23. Holmes E.6 Offley (Catherine Van Rensselaer Heaton5, Jane Cooper4 Heaton, Major Samuel3 Cooper, John2, Rev. William1) (#57) was born Georgetown, D.C. April 30, 1839. Holmes died February 28, 1919 Loudown County, Virginia, at 79 years of age. His body was interred Arlington National Cemetary.
He married Mary C. Nelson Offley. (Mary C. Nelson Offley is #58.) . Holmes served in the U.S. Navy Department, 1861-1865. After active duty, Lt. USN, served as Chief clerk, U.S. navy Department, 1869-1874.
He later resided at "Maplewood", Hamilton, Loudown County, Virginia.
